<blockquote>
<h4>LECTURE DESCRIPTION</h4>
<p>Professor Kagan introduces the course and the material that will be covered during the semester. He aims to clarify what the class will focus on in particular and which subjects it will steer away from. The emphasis will be placed on <a href="http://academicearth.org/lectures/search/philosophical%20questions">philosophical questions</a> that arise when one contemplates the nature of death. The first half of the course will address metaphysical questions while the second half will focus on value theory.</p>
<h4>COURSE DESCRIPTION</h4>
<p>There is one thing I can be sure of: I am going to die. But what am I to make of that fact? This course will examine a number of issues that arise once we begin to reflect on our mortality. The possibility that death may not actually be the end is considered. Are we, in some sense, immortal? Would immortality be desirable? Also a clearer notion of what it is to die is examined. What does it mean to say that a person has died? What kind of fact is that? And, finally, different attitudes to death are evaluated. Is death an evil? How? Why? Is suicide morally permissible? Is it rational? How should the knowledge that I am going to die affect the way I live my life?</p>

<blockquote><p>Survey thousands of years of Chinese history in this exciting two-course set that recreates this important country&#8217;s epic story.</p>
<p>How did modern China become one of the most important global powers of the 21st century? Join China expert and Professor Richard Baum as he brings to life the human struggles, political upheavals, and spectacular speed of this nation&#8217;s rebirth in The Fall and Rise of China. Offering multilevel insights into one of the most astounding real-life dramas of modern history, his 48 lectures weave together the diverse developments and sociopolitical currents that created the China of today&#8217;s headlines.</p>
<p>Then, travel back even further in time to explore China&#8217;s earlier history in From Yao to Mao: 5000 Years of Chinese History. Professor Kenneth J. Hammond finally lifts the veil of mystery behind this land and reveals enduring truths about one of the most amazing civilizations the world has ever known. In these 36 lectures, discover the powerful dynasties that ruled China for centuries, the philosophical and religious foundations that have influenced Chinese life and thought, and the larger-than-life personalities who shaped China&#8217;s history.</p></blockquote>

<p><strong>Course Description</strong></p>
<blockquote><p><a href="http://academicearth.org/courses/justice-whats-the-right-thing-to-do"><img class="alignright" title="Michael Sandel" src="http://academicearth.org/img/Course/800002/l_imagefile.jpg" alt="" width="144" height="80" /></a>Justice is one of the most popular courses in Harvard’s history, having taught more than 14,000 students over the course of two decades.</p>
<p>In this course, Sandel challenges us with difficult moral dilemmas and asks our opinion about the right thing to do. He then asks us to examine our answers in the light of new scenarios. The results are often surprising, revealing that important moral questions are never black and white.</p>
<p>This course also addresses the hot topics of our day—affirmative action, same-sex marriage, patriotism and rights—and Sandel shows us that we can revisit familiar controversies with a fresh perspective.</p>
<p>Each lecture in this course has two parts as well as related readings and discussion guides.</p></blockquote>
<p><strong>补充</strong>：</p>
<p>前些天在香港偶尔在<a href="http://academicearth.org/" target="_blank">Academicearth.org</a>看到哈佛教授<a href="http://justiceharvard.org/" target="_blank">Michael Sandel</a>的12讲视频讲座《Justice: What the right thing to do?》，大喜过望。 </p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.lixiaolai.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/b00l0y01_640_360.jpg" target="_blank"><img class="aligncenter" title="b00l0y01_640_360" src="http://www.lixiaolai.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/b00l0y01_640_360.jpg" alt="b00l0y01_640_360" width="480" height="270" /></a></p>
<p>今天又有读者提醒，在<a href="http://forum-network.org/" target="_blank">forum-network.org</a>无需使用代理<a href="http://forum-network.org/series/justice-whats-right-thing-do-series" target="_blank">可以直接看</a>。 这真是太好了，这下就<a href="../archives/8104" target="_blank">不用再用我自己的破带宽勉强做驴</a>了。</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.lixiaolai.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/justice-1.jpg" target="_blank"><img class="aligncenter" title="justice-1" src="http://www.lixiaolai.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/justice-1.jpg" alt="justice-1" width="480" height="320" /></a></p>
而<a title="Great Fucking Wall" href="../#" target="_blank">那什么</a>真恶心，差点让我们错过这么好的东西。</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.lixiaolai.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/2009937460.jpg" target="_blank"><img class="aligncenter" title="2009937460" src="http://www.lixiaolai.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/2009937460.jpg" alt="2009937460" width="296" height="435" /></a></p>
<p>这里有一个<a href="http://www.cceia.org/resources/video/data/000280" target="_blank">Michael Sandel教授在Carnegie Council的讲座视频</a>（以及<a href="http://www.cceia.org/resources/transcripts/0240.html" target="_blank">transcript</a>），听众不再是学生，而是一群高级知识分子，其讨论非常精彩。</p>
</strong></p>
<p><img src="http://www.lixiaolai.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/firefox-flashgot.png" alt="" title="firefox-flashgot" width="338" height="30" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8192" /></p>
<blockquote><p>%AppData%\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files</p></blockquote>
<blockquote><p>Justice: What&#8217;s The Right Thing To Do? Episode 01<br />
Justice: What&#8217;s The Right Thing To Do? Episode 02<br />
&#8230;<br />
Justice: What&#8217;s The Right Thing To Do? Episode 12</p></blockquote>
<form method="post" action="http://apps.hloli.net/gfwtube">
<input type="text" style="width: 220px;" value="" name="content"/>
<select name="orderby">
<option selected="" value="relevance" style="display:none;">relevance</option>
<option value="published">published</option>
<option value="viewCount">viewCount</option>
<option value="rating">rating</option>
</select>
<input style="width:110px;" type="submit" value="Search YouTube"/></form>
</strong></p>
<a href="http://www.lixiaolai.com/archives/8189.html">我已经将其转换为srt格式的字幕文件</a>，下载链接为：<a href="http://ifile.it/5gt8xsr" target="_blank">http://ifile.it/5gt8xsr</a></p>
