优势策略，或者是更优策略总是可能存在。但往往不是被忽略就是被有意无意地错过。
《普林斯顿的幽灵》的作者迪克西特曾引用英国桂冠诗人丁尼生的诗句为小约翰·福布斯·纳什的曲折人生历程作为注解：”It’s better to have loved and then lost than to have never loved at all.” (爱过而后失去总比从未爱过更好。) 迪克西特接着写道，“Love is a dominant-strategy.” (爱是一种优势策略。)
我的一个朋友，最近面临一个难以决策的选择，a) 继续自己的创业公司，b) 去全球top3的商学院读MBA。身边所有的人都在劝他选择b)选项，而他却犹豫不决。他问我的建议，我直接说我不知道——我说，“这是你自己的事儿。”他说他可不觉得这是他自己的事儿，因为，父母家人朋友都在或多或少向他施加压力。我说，“那还是你自己的事儿。”
他想了想，表示同意。我说，“那就好，我现在可以给你建议了。”
方法倒也简单，只不过是拿出纸笔来，罗列两个方案的种种好处和局限，然后做出比较，给每个好处和局限打分，最后通过各项具体分值，再做衡量，最终得到结论。
至于得出什么结论并不重要，因为那是你自己的决定。也许别人说的有道理，也许别人说的没道理。不管人家说的有道理没道理，你有可以选择听或者不听。但是，关键在于，最终承担责任的人只有你自己——你没权利要求别人为你承担责任。
我这个学过经济学的朋友当然最终用了一个很专业的概念，“……，那机会成本呢？如何估量呢？”
我接着说，“……倒是有个优势策略。”
这个优势策略就是，无论你做出哪个选择，只要选择了，就不要再更改，然后付出100%的努力。100%的努力，将使你的时间毫无浪费，最终使你在你所这个选择的这个方向上走的最远。走得最远，即意味着说，你100%的努力将保证你在这个方向上获得最大收益，做到了尽可能地抵消机会成本——就算你这个方向上的最终收益减去你在另外一个方向上可能产生的机会成本等于负数，你也已经做到了损失最少。更何况有一点在任何一个方向上都是一样的：你最终真的有所收获毕竟是因为你真的去做了。然而，你现在犹豫不决，恰恰是在浪费时间，等同于在给自己不停地制造沉没成本呢……
所以，从不间断努力，是一个很好的优势策略。而所谓的运气，和机会成本，并没有想象得那么重要。

[…] 如此的看法，来自于我相信“策略可以弥补缺陷”。理查德道金斯在《自私的基因》（The Selfish Genes）里，详细地解释了基因是如何“并非有意地”进化——凭借一些简单的策略。为了说明白这个道理，道金斯教授举了一个类比的例子。程序员在编写“智能棋手”程序的时候，并不是让计算机每走一步就去穷尽之后所有的可行性，而后选择可以导致最佳结果的下一步——那样的话，运算能力再强的计算机，都会显得很“慢”（也就是说，好几天甚至好几年才可能走出一步）。程序员实际上做的事情是“教会”计算机一些常见的“策略”，而后再给计算机加上“自我补充学习机制”，使得计算机显得很“智能”，于是，计算机就可以下棋下得越来越好。基因也是如此。基因并不是有一个特定的目标而后再采取行动，而是通过一定的简单机制，完成了今天看起来不可能的复杂进化。（道金斯教授的这本书，每个版本我都读了好几遍，慨叹于他运用文字和透析读者思维的能力，多复杂的道理，在他笔下都可以举重若轻） […]
